General Sir Simon Mayall – British Army General

 

Lieutenant General Sir Simon Mayall is a former British Army officer, General and Middle East advisor at the Ministry of Defence.

Seconded to the Sultan of Oman’s land forces in the 1980s, he went on to serve in Iraq, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He was the Deputy Commanding General of the Multi-National Corps in Iraq in the mid 2000s for which he was awarded an ‘Officer of the Legion of Merit’ by the United States. In 2007, he was appointed Assistant Chief of the General Staff and later became Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff.

In 2014 he was appointment was as the Prime Minister’s Security Envoy to Iraq and the Kurdish Regional Government. The same year General Sir Simon was made a Knight Commanded of the Order of the British Empire for his four decades of service.
